Scripture Advent

This year for Christmas time instead of eating a piece of candy or doing an activity every night we are doing a scripture advent. It is really a lot of fun and has really helped us stay "on task" if you will with the true meaning of Christmas. I thought I would share a copy of it with you all so you can use it if you want. Enjoy!

  2. My Grandma gave us a homemade book for Christmas when we got married that has a song, scripture and story for each night before Christmas (kind of like an advent thing) but it also has many other stories that she copied and included for extras. One of the copied pages in there is exactly this same page about doing a scripture advent. That's neat!

For our scripture advent calender we pick a piece of paper from the stocking or mitten for the day and read the scripture. It is a clue that has to do with the nativity or something about Jesus. We talk about the scripture and then the kids go look for the candy where the scripture refers to. Tonight's one was about watching ourselves, our thoughts and deeds, so after talking about what that really means we searched for the chocolate and found it by a mirror.

    It's an awesome tradition!
